Our story begins with a family of shopkeepers from Jalisco, Mexico and their journey to Joliet, Illinois. In 1996, after noticing a growing need for the foods they missed so dearly, they decided to do what they knew best and opened a small grocery store making Hispanic products easily available. With limited space inside and limited resources, the Original Joliet Taco Truck was born always using the freshest ingredients and fast service, all while maintaining accessible prices. In 2014 we inaugurated our new kitchen where we could work year-round, and now the truck is used for special events. For 25 years we have worked to maintain our Dollar Taco, despite the ever-rising cost of goods from our suppliers. Unfortunately, the events of 2020 that we are living through have forced us to reevaluate our pricing, due to short supply and continued rise of the cost of goods. We wish to always serve our community and continue our efforts to keep our prices from rising for many years to come while always maintaining our bold flavors!

Nuestra historia comienza con una familia de carniceros de Jalisco, México y su travesía para llegar a Joliet, Illinois. En 1996, después de notar la falta de productos y comida mexicana que ellos tanto extrañaban, decidieron hacer lo que mejor sabían hacer y abrieron una pequeña carnicera y tienda de abarrotes, para hacer accesibles todo tipo de productos Hispanos. Con espacio y recursos limitados nació, el Original Carrito de Joliet, siempre usando ingredientes frescos y servicio rápido. En el 2014 inauguramos nuestra nueva cocina, la cual nos permite trabajar durante todo el año, y ahora El Carrito se reserva para eventos especiales. Durante 25 años hemos trabajado arduamente para mantener nuestro Taco de a Dólar a pesar del aumento de precios de los ingredientes que los proveedores nos ofrecen. Desafortunadamente, los hechos del año 2020 que estamos viviendo ha causado escasez y precios más altos en ciertos ingredientes, por ende, nos hemos visto forzados a reevaluar nuestros precios. Deseamos siempre servir a nuestra comunidad y continuar nuestros esfuerzos para evitar que nuestros precios aumenten durante muchos años más ¡siempre manteniendo el sabor de generaciones!
